Product Insights
This frozen tamale delivers certified Hatch Valley green chile—valley-grown under New Mexico law, fire-roasted, and running 1,000–8,000 Scoville units for a tamer-than-jalapeño warmth—paired with mild cheddar and stone-ground masa that is intentionally grainy for a heartier bite and stronger corn flavor. Made by USDA-inspected Amigo’s in Deming, NM, and flash-frozen for up to six months, it offers individual husk wraps for one-tamale reheating, though steaming 8–12 minutes is the gold standard and microwaving requires a damp paper towel. Buyers call the flavor wonderfully balanced and fairly authentic for a frozen product, rating it 4.04 stars, but note batch inconsistency (light and fluffy to thick and dry) and that leftovers dry out. Priced at $70, it’s about 7% more per ounce than a refrigerated alternative, and while naturally gluten-free, the lard and cheddar make it unsuitable for vegetarians, vegans, or dairy-free diets. The Hatch chile’s deep, earthy, savory character comes from Hatch Valley’s 20-degree daily swings and mineral-rich soil, anchoring a cultural tradition that includes a 30,000-person festival.

Absolutely DELICIOUS
Absolutely DELICIOUS. We will definitely be doing a re-order on them. When we lived in Arizona, we were able to get them wrapped in the corn husks, but the paper wrap takes nothing from the flavor. If someone wants good Tamales, I will send them your name. We are able to get the Hatch Green Chilis at our grocery store. Love them, on everything.
Best tamales i ever ate thank you so
Best tamales i ever ate thank you so much
Lacking
To start with, there was very little chili in each tamale. The masa was thin and tamales were tiny inside of the husks. Feel like for the price, the quality should have been far more. Would never order these again.
Wonderful!
Wonderful!
Best Tamales Ever!
Best tamales I've ever had! The corn meal is light and fluffy, and the flavor of the green chili and cheese is wonderfully balanced!
These are the best tamales
These are the best tamales. Eat them plain of load them up with fresh chile, more cheese and onions. Yummy!!
All the flavor was fantastic, I took them to New Year's lunch at a friend's. They were a hit!
Disappointed
November 16, 2023….Green chili cheese tamales arrived (in Arizona) thawed. Who do I even call for a refund? To make matters worse, I wanted to see if they could be salvaged so I cooked one and was extremely disappointed in the extreme saltiness of the tamale.
Tamales (Chili and Cheese
The tamales had a wonderful flavor but they were too small for the price paid.
Chili forward
If you are looking for green chili and cheese tamales that are heavy on the chili these tamales are for you. The tamales were delicious.
Great
I retract my previous review,,,
My previous review complained about the frozen block of tamales and my fear of not being able to separate them when I was ready to use them. Forgive me, I finally took them out of the freezer as I was ready to steam six of them. I actually could separate the frozen tamales without very much resistance. And may I add they were delicious! So do not fear when you get that frozen block of tamales as they are inseparable!!!
Taste Old
The tamales tasted freezer burned.
Haven’t eaten them
Haven’t eaten them. Very very disappointed that I have 12 tamales that are frozen together in one solid block. I am one person and not about to eat 12 tamales in one sitting. I did call about this and was told by the very kind gentleman that I could defrost them some to separate them. I didn’t bother telling him that when you defrost and then refreeze you are taking moisture out of the product. An expensive mistake on my part. I wanted to be able to enjoy these a couple at a time. Buyer beware!
YUMMY!
VERY, VERY, YUMMY!
Tasty
Delicious
Tamales
Best tamales ever!
Good flavor, but they got smashed
The flavor is fine, but the tamales looked as if an elephant had sat on them before they were frozen. They arrived at my house solidly frozen but all "bent out of shape", twisted and jammed together. I thawed them enough to separate off a couple for my dinner and returned the rest to the freezer. I will eat them and enjoy the flavor, but I could never serve tamales that looked like this, to guests.
Delicious
Delicious and not too spicy. However a bit on the small size and not enough cheese for me but so good you overlook the skimpy amount of cheese .
Disappointed
Tamales were dry
So very, very good!!!!!!
Very well packaged. We had them for dinner that night and all agreed we should have ordered more. There were no leftovers. I will definitely order again. Thanks for the excellent service.
First time...won't be the last !
We are new to FCC and couldn't be more pleased with ALL of the products we have tried so far ! Love Papa's salsa, the Green and Red Chile sauces and the tamales. Also love the social media sites with recipes !
Great
Very good the green Chile is outstanding full flavor. Very hard to get the Green Chile flavor here in California. The Masa did not stay together after steaming.
Ok
There are much better Tamales in my area, and less expensive, not much flavor, really mediocre. I love all your other products.

Frozen two pack praised over Cedar Lane, fairly authentic
The cedar lane brand ones are not great. The frozen two pack ones are great; fairly authentic, but you can’t really beat the real thing. They used to have super good refrigerated ones.
